Getting Married in Stratford

Marriage License Information. Effective January 1, 2021.

Marriage Licenses are by appointment only. Please call 203-385-4020.
Plan ahead and call at the minimum two weeks before your ceremony to obtain your marriage license. You may apply for a marriage license up to 65 days before your ceremony.
Obtain a marriage license in Stratford only if you are getting married in Stratford.
Both parties to the marriage license must appear in person.
Please present a valid photo form of identification.
Know the date of your marriage ceremony.
Who will be performing your ceremony? Have their contact information available.
Know the correct spelling of your parent's first, last, and mother's maiden name.
Know the birthplace of your parents (State or Foreign Country).
Marriage License fee is $50.00. Payment options are cash, money order, or check.
Please make check payable to "Town of Stratford."
Certified copies of your marriage license can be obtained by completing the "Request for Certified Copy of Marriage Certificate." You will be given the request form at the time you apply for your marriage license.
