Playground Camps


DATES: June 28th – August 12TH (no camp July 5TH)

TIMES: 8am – 3pm

AGES: Co-ed ages 5-13

COST: $75 for summer

Information:
    A. Campers will be split into groups by age (5-7; 8-10; 11-13)
    B. Camp T-shirt will be handed out first week of camp
    C. Free Lunch will be provided by Sodexo
    D. Camp is 1 counselor to 15 children.  This is not a licensed Day Camp. Camp is 1 counselor to 15 children.
    E. Drop off and Pick up protocol will be the same:
      • Children may be dropped off or picked up any time between 8am and 3pm. Pick up needs to be by a parent/guardian or person designated by the parent/guardian. Photo ID will be required at time of pick up.

Football Camp: Learn skills related to passing, receiving, rushing, blocking and defense. Enjoy timeless skills like Punt Pass Kick and the 40 yard dash! Group team flag football games. Non-contact.
Nature Camp: Explore the outdoors while hiking in the forest or exploring the beaches for sea life! Enjoy fishing as an option!
Soccer Camp: Learn juggling, passing, shooting, throw-ins and defense skills. Enjoy games like Steal the Bacon and World Cup! Group team scrimmages and games.
Baseball Camp:  Learn throwing, fielding, hitting and base running skills. Enjoy timeless skills like bucket drill and pickle! Group team games.
Basketball Camp/Girls Basketball Camp: Learn dribbling, passing, rebounding and scoring skills. Enjoy timeless games such as hot-shot and knock-out! Group team games.
Track Camp: Learn skills used in jumping, throwing and running events. We will have a multi-team track event at the end of the week!
Volleyball Camp: Learn bumping, passing, setting and serving skills. Enjoy games like King of the court and Spider! Group team games.
Schoolyard Games Camp: Play your favorite schoolyard games! Capture the Flag, Sharks and Minnows, Wall Ball, Kickball and more!

“The Arts” Camps

Theater: Learn the BASICS & FUNDAMENTALS of acting through improvisation, scene work and fun group exercises! Each week students will engage in exciting, interactive games and learn just what it means to be an actor!
Cheer & Dance: Students will learn to put their rhythm to good use. These young dancers and cheerleaders will hone their skills and technique while practicing new routines. Perfect for anyone that can’t stop tapping their foot to the beat!
Film/Acting for Camera: Take a seat in the director’s chair in this new, one-week camp. Students will learn to compose a shot, write a script and act for the big screen as they work together to create their OWN SHORT FILM.

Short Beach Golf Academy

Short beach golf academy
.  Director of Camp: Peter Pulaski PGA. With over 35 years of golf teaching and coaching experience Peter spent the last 27 years on the golf professional staff at Yale University. While at Yale, Peter directed Nike Junior Golf Camps and Yale golf programs for students and alumni. The 2007 Connecticut PGA Teacher of the Year has given private instruction to both top amateur and professional golfers.
The five- day program will include:
    • Fundamental golf rules
    • Golf course etiquette
    • Short game instruction on putting and chipping
    • Full swing instruction and video review
    • Course management
    • SBGA tee shirt

Fairfield County Tennis Camp and Clinic

Each day of camp players are introduced to a different stroke of the day including the forehand, backhand, volley, and serve. This camp also offers an optional cross-training component to enhance players’ coordination and endurance. Off-court games include hoccer, soccer, and dodge ball. Camp will be run by a certified adult instructor. Children should bring a nut-free snack from home each day. Beginner/Advanced Beginner Low Intermediate/Intermediate. Ratio 4 – 6 students per instructor.

Science Hacks & Tricks Lab Entering
Do you know how to bend a bone without breaking it or how to avoid static electricity? How about how to make a pencil levitate or how to use one to make a circuit? Using the power of science, we will reveal the secrets behind many tricks and illusions magicians use and discover cool hacks that will wow your friends and family.
Artist’s Passport Travel through the world through art. Embark on an around the world adventure using Crayola products and art techniques to create masterpieces. Take home all Crayola products.
NASA’s Space Lab 3! 2! 1! BLAST OFF with our NASA-designed space camp! Explore outer space like a real astronaut! Discover the technology that scientists use in space and what it is like to be on a real space mission to the atmosphere and beyond! Astronauts-in-training will use laser beams, create a cool comet, study stars and moons close up, and witness an out of this world rocket launch
MAD Potions & Explosions Lab Entering Get ready to dig your hands into MAD giant experiments! This camp will be jam packed with massive, fizzling eruptions and explosions! Testing everything from dry ice to walking on oobleck, getting messy with hydrodipping and ginormous stretchy putty, we will prove science is fun!
MSI: Mystery Lab Welcome, future Mad Science Investigators! Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to successfully solve the Mad Science Mystery! Experience hands on activities that will warp you into a double agent’s world! Just like a real detective, campers will use clues, crack codes, and spy gadgets to collect evidence that will help analyze the case and ultimately solve the Mad Science Mystery.

Archery Competition

This is to teach the students how a simple competition works. Barebow competition, 20yards, total of 36 arrows. The first 2 weeks will be practice, Competition is on the 3rd week. Anyone under 18 needs to have completed Archery beginner class or equivalent. Anyone over 18 who knows how to shoot can participate. Competition on June 26th will be 10am for all participants.

Track& Field

Youth will learn the fundamentals of individual events in track and field. Various throwing events, baton handling, jumping, and running events will be instructed.

Acting Improv Workshop

Join us as we learn to “not think” and to say “yes, and” – here you’ll be thrown into fun games and exercises to ease you into the art of improvisation. Before you know it, you will be performing scenes and learning to heighten and explore your ideas. This workshop is designed to help beginners improve their acting skills and foster spontaneity.
