Last week, we recognized September as Dystonia Awareness Month. Stratford residents Len and Janice Nachbar, who lost their daughter Joanna to this neurological disorder, have since worked tirelessly to raise awareness, understanding, and support for research toward a cure.
Dystonia causes involuntary muscle contractions that lead to painful, abnormal movements and postures, with limited treatment options available. The Town of Stratford stands with Len and Jan, in memory of Joanna, and with all affected families by promoting awareness throughout September.
We thank Len and Jan for their dedication and for encouraging our community to learn more about Dystonia, its impact, and the importance of continued outreach and research.
